Kegworth is a parish in NW Leicestershire District and was granted a market charter in 1289. Kegworth is about 13 miles SE of Derby and about 12 miles SW of Nottingham. Kegworth appears in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Cogeworde.
The historic core of Kegworth is substantially intact. The historic core contains a concentration of buildings that predate the reign of Queen Victoria, including eighteen listed buildings.
The south-east edge of the historic core is framed by three small country houses. To the south, Alton Lodge and the Wymeshead were built in the mid-nineteenth century. To the east, the Hermitage appears on the 1779 map.
The land on the east side of Borough Street was redeveloped after 1884.
