Do-It-Yourself Kits - HandyMan -Materials

Sash window restoration for the competent wood worker or diy enthusiast.

Since the launch of Sash Window Specialist first web site in 1995 we have been keen to encourage D.I.Y. enthusiasts in saving their own sash windows.  Our online D.I.Y. guide has received many thankful e-mail's from people across the world, who have successfully restored their own sash windows to good working order.  They not only saved money but gained the satisfaction of 'a job well done'.

In response to your frequent requests for us to supply the specialist materials that we use in our own professional recondition systems we have created a kit for the competent D.I.Y. enthusiast. It contains all of the necessary components required to draught seal a wide variety of sash window sizes. These kits are only suitable for people with a good knowledge of woodworking skills and a full understanding of safe working practices.

Kits are available from all of our regional offices, callers are strictly by appointment only.  Should you need some friendly advise during the installation of our kits then your regional Sash Window Specialist is only a phone call away.

NOTES:
Sash windows under 1m wide - the top and bottom staff beads can be replaced with this kit.
Sash windows over 1 m wide - The existing top staff bead is retained as this bead plays no part in the draught seal procedure.  If the top bead needs to be replaced then matching staff bead without the carrier is also available from most timber yards.
Sash windows over 2.1 m high - Off cuts from the bottom bead can be joined 'on the mitre' and the pile continued through to the top of the frame.  Joints made high on the window should not be noticeable.
